The Safe Access to Firewood and alternative Energy (SAFE) 2012 workshop was organized by WFP’s Humanitarian Policy and Transitions Service after nearly three years of SAFE project implementation. Since 2009, WFP SAFE has reached 1.6 million beneficiaries in six countries: Ethiopia, Haiti, Kenya, Sri Lanka, Sudan, and Uganda. The SAFE workshop was organised with the purpose of consolidating lessons learned, documenting WFP SAFE experiences in various field locations, and bringing together key global stakeholders in an effort to develop a common vision and way forward.
