Description
In this 2013 factsheet, the World Food Programme provides an update on SAFE issues, initatives and outcomes in Darfur, Sudan. The influx of refugees has led to environement degredation of the surrounding forest due to firewood collection and has exposed women and girls to great safety and health risks. The WFP has worked with the local communities to roll out several initiatives including income generating activities, providing fuel efficient stoves and are currently pioletting a biogas program.
