In 2005, “CooKit” solar cookers were introduced in the Iridimi camp as part of an effort to reduce reliance on firewood and in turn improve the safety of the refugee women by lessening the need to leave the camp to collect wood. In October of 2007, a team of 15 people from eight organizations conducted an evaluation of solar cooking in the camp. The evaluation was undertaken over five days and included interviews with 121 refugees.
