Project Description

1. Jijiga Camps of Somali Refugees: The project mainly focused on livelihood and environmental rehabilitation of refugees and host community areas with main emphasis of tree planting on protected areas, income generating activities such as bee keeping and animal fattening. 2. Bambasi and Sherkole Camps of Sudanese Refugees: Similar efforts for IGAs in Bambasi refugee camp had been initiated in partnership with an INGO, Lutheran World Federation, where poultry, vegetable production and milling facilities established for income generation by selected women refugee members. In Sherkole camp, two types of fuel efficient stoves distributed to refugees (Mirt for enjera baking and Rocket type for cooking stews and other types of food) in early 2013.
