Project Description

Waka Waka Powers and Lights were provided to Syr­i­an refugees cross­ing the bor­ders of Jordan, Ir­aq, Tur­key and Le­ban­on. The sol­ar-powered devices al­low them to charge their phones and con­nect with fam­ily mem­bers who are caught in the hor­rors of the civil wars. They also en­able them to safely see, study, move about, cook, read and gath­er in dark­ness without the risk of tent fires due to ker­osene lights. 3600 Waka Lights and 4150 WakaWaka Powers were distributed. The project took place in Akçakale, Turkey.
