Project Description

In an effort to reduce firewood consumption, the Save80 fuel-efficient stove was piloted in Dadaab. The Save80 stove was not successfully adopted by users because the stove got too hot and only accommodated one kind of pot. The primary lesson learned from this project wasthat the stove needed to be better designed to meet the needs of the local community. It should be user-friendly and culturally appropriate so as to enable refugees to make their local food. The projects took place in Dagahaley Camp ID 53, Hagadera Camp ID 54, and Ifo Camp ID 55 in Garissa District, Kenya.
