Project Description

Twelve 60 liter institutional stoves were installed in schools and hospitals in Jijiga camp. The institutional stove installations in schools were part of a school feeding programme, and the hospital installations were done to provide hot meals for patients. The primary success of this project was that the institutional stoves were more fuel efficient than three-stone fires. The institutionalcookstoves are currently imported and the high import costs have driven the costs of the stove up. There is a need for stoves to be manufactured locally in order to reduce the cost of the stove and provide a form of employment. The location of the project was in Jijiga Camp ID 23 in JIjiga, Ethiopia.
