Project Description

The intention around the SAFE program is to minimize the risk against environmental degradation and maximize energy saving. It is also meant to provide alternative livelihoods options through creation of incomes. The project has several objectives including: (1) increase income and improve household food and livelihood security, investing in household productive assets; (2) engage participants in intensive farming activities to enhance food production; (3) open way for markets and facilitate water saving for difference uses. A typical FSL program also includes the provision of fuel efficient stoves.Feedback from the community showed that they were happy about the initiative, reporting that they now spend less hours cooking compared to before when using ordinary cooking stoves. More women were willing to engage and learn new techniques of constructing the cooking stoves. ToTs are being monitored by the Community Facilitators and over 90% of the stoves constructed are already in use. The location of the project is in Karamoja, Uganda.
