Project Description

Following the armed conflict with Russia in August 2008, Caritas supplied emergency cooking assistance to IDPs that went beyond the emergency appeal. The primary objective of the project was to provide emergency assistance for IDPs in the form of LPG cookstoves, fuel, and cooking materials. A total of 1,000 LPG cookstoves and LPG canisters (4.5 liter volume) were provided to 1,000 IDP households. Refills of these LPG canisters were twice provided by a different donor. This project also distributed 1,000 cooking pots (6 liter volume), 1,000 sets of dinnerware (13 plates per set), 1,000 sets of household items (2 boxes of detergent powder and 1 bottle of dish-washing liquid per household), and 1,670 pairs of winter shoes for men, women, children and youth. The location of the project was in Gori, Kutaisi, Tbilisi, Georgia.
