Project Description

Concern provided fuel efficient stoves to displaced women so they can spend less time outside the refugee camps collecting wood. Concern also provided training in tree nursery establishment and management. There were severalobjectives for this project including providing fuel efficient stoves to women, training women on producing and using the stoves, and encouraging the trained women to disseminate their knowledge to additional women. Overall, the project included production of 1,500 fuel-efficient stoves, dissemination of 40,000 fruit trees and multipurpose tree seedlings, and specialized training of2,000 households in agroforestrypractices. In addition 100 target beneficiaries were trained in tree nursery establishment and management, and 4 extension staff were trained in agroforestry technology and FFS methodology. Women were also trained in constructing the fuel-efficient stoves, an activity which could be used for income generation. The location of the project was in Mornei (IDP) Camp ID 78 in West Darfur, Sudan.
