Project Description
The project aims to contribute to the livelihood of targeted marginalized rural and Bedouin households in Gaza and the West Bank by reducing the expenditure on energy used for cooking by 50%, decreasing the amount of time spent by women and youth looking for wood, and decreasing exposure to toxic fumes produced when plastic is burned for cooking. 15 biogas production units were distributed in Gaza and 13 were distributed to households in the West Bank. The success of the project is that families in Gaza are now able to cook on biogas stove for 30 minutes to 3 hours per day; this is inspected to increase as temperatures get warmer. Lesson to be learned is that inadequate amounts of biogas were produced during winter in the West Bank due to low temperatures.
